Pysanka- art form

Most of my decoration on my ceramic art pieces uses this Ukrainian art form.

The above piece began with carving and some wax resist work.

Like many cultures in this world of ours, people decorate Eggs every Easter. It could be for religious reasons or purely for the spring Equinox. Ukrainian artists have taken this tradition to the nth degree.

As a person who works with clay, I became determined to transpose this technique of drawing with hot wax onto ceramics. Many people used decals(transfers) to apply Ukrainian designs onto Ceramics, but when I created my first embroidered piece by hand I could see and feel something special in its creation.

Embroidered Clay

Creating not only ceramic eggs but also onto my ceramic sculptural work I had to develop using underglaze paints and colours like painters do or China painting artists.

As I developed the drawing with hot wax onto clay I realized it was a great asset and skill to have.

In creating traditional pysanki the artist uses wax and a dying process onto real eggs.

I call this combination-Pysanka Art Form.

Desperately Seeking Dirius

I will end here by saying that I get a great feeling of satisfaction in continuing aspects of Ukrainian culture onto my clay passion.

Not only does it soothe my anger towards the unfairness of the War but it also keeps Ukrainian traditions alive and that is why Putin will never annihilate Ukraine!!
